Technique Tuesday - October 2024 - Partial Die Cutting

Time for another Technique Tuesday Blog Hop. This month our theme is "Partial Die Cutting". I used the Spotlight on Nature Bundle for this pretty card in Petunia Pop. This is one of my favourite bundles in the Annual Catalogue - perfect for simple stamping or for a technique such as partial die cutting!

If you've never tried partial die cutting, you might be a little intimidated with it to start, but once you've figured out which way to cut, you're golden. Trust me, I've cut the wrong way multiple times before I figured it out! Check out the cards in our Blog Hop to be inspired and get some great tips!

Instructions

Cut Petunia Pop cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4". Fold and burnish on scoreline using Bone Folder to form card base.
Lay largest circle die from Spotlight on Nature Dies on front of card - make sure your card base is unfolded or you will cut through both front and back!
Use a post it not to hold in place.
Place on Stampin' Cut n' Emboss Platform 1 and 2.
Position the second cutting plate on top of half of the die which you want to cut through - for this card that is the right hand side of the card base. With Partial Die Cutting, you will cut only where the top cutting plate is positioned.
Run through Stampin' Cut n' Emboss Machine - one tip is to run through with the longest end of the top cutting plate going through first. If you try to run through with the the other way, your cutting plate will slip and you won't cut where you want to!
Once the circle is partially cut, you will need to cut down from the top to the edge of the circle and repeat on the bottom - this frees the piece of cardstock around the circle.
Cut Designer Series Paper 1 1/4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to the left side of the card base.
Cut out circle from Basic White cardstock using second largest Spotlight on Nature Die.
Stamp flower on Basic White circle using Petunia Pop ink
Adhere to card base using Dimensionals.
Cut Petunia Pop cardstock 1/2" x 1".
Stamp sentiment on Petunia Pop cardstock using Petunia Pop ink.
Adhere to card base.
Adhere Petunia Pop Shimmer Gems
Cut Designer Series Paper (different pattern than on card front) 4" x 5 1/4"
Adhere to inside of card.
Cut out circle from Basic White cardstock using second largest Spotlight on Nature Die.
Stamp cross hatch on Basic White circle using Petunia Pop ink.
Adhere to the inside of the card base so that it is hidden under the front larger circle.

Christmas Stamp a Stack

Join me each month starting in July for my 2024 Christmas Stamp-a-Stack. We'll make 8 cards each month (2 of 4 designs) so you'll have a supply of cards on hand for all occasions.

Cost is $40 (local) or $45 (by mail) each month or free with a minimum of a $45 order (before taxes and shipping).

Two options - in person or by mail.

In Person - class will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 10am.

By mail - Zoom will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 1pm. The class will be recorded and available via YouTube if you can't join the class. You will substitute stamp sets or add the stampset/dies to your order.

Each month there will be an option to purchase the stampset or bundle. Costs will be based on product used.

The November kit will use the Artful Amaryllis Stamp Set - from the September to December Mini Catalogue!

Monthly Card Club

I'm excited to be offering a Monthly Card Club either In Person or by mail. Each month I will select a stamp set or bundle to feature.
