Birds and Branches Trifold Card

Tuesday, 30 June 2020

Today I'm sharing another card I made using the Birds and Branches Bundle from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  I was inspired for this card by the card on page 120 of the catalogue.  I love the die that cuts out the circle with the branches.

For my card I made a trifold card (I'm not sure if that's actually the official name for this fancy fold, but that's what I call it!).  This is my "go to" fancy fold, and it's early to make!

Isn't this pretty in Pool Party, Petal Pink and with the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper!

Instructions

  1. Cut Pool Party cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4".  Fold in half on the 4 1/4" score line and then fold on the 2 1/8" score line back toward the fold.
  2. Cut Designer Series Paper 1 7/8" x 5 1/4" and adhere to front flap using Stampin' Seal.
  3. Cut Whisper White cardstock 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
  4. Cut Pool Party cardstock 3 1/4" x 3 1/4".
  5. Cut the circle with branches from the middle of the Pool Party square.
  6. Stamp a branch using Soft Suede Ink and leaves using Mint Macaron ink on the Whisper White cardstock square - on the bottom right side of the piece - so it shows through the circle cut out of the Pool Party cardstock.
  7. Adhere the Pool Party cardstock to the Whisper White cardstock using Dimensionals in each of the 4 corners.
  8. Stamp sentiment on a 1/2" by 2 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut tag end in the right hand side and diagonal end on the left hand side.
  9. Adhere to square using Stampin' Seal.
  10. Stamp 3 flowers in Petal Pink ink and the Bird in Soft Suede ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Cut out with coordinating dies.
  11. Colour bird using Light and Dark Petal Pink and Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends
  12. Adhere the bird and flowers to square using Dimensionals
  13. Adhere to card front using Dimensionals making sure that the Dimensionals are only on the card flap.
  14. Adhere Champagne Rhinestones to each of the flower centres.

Peony Garden

Friday, 26 June 2020

Today is my third card in my Peony Garden Series.  I love this Product Suite!

For this card I made the 3D peony - don't be afraid, it really is easy.  I created a video to show you how to put it together.  Once you've done it once, you'll realize how easy it is!  You can check out my video on my Youtube channel.

The Peony Garden Designer Series Paper includes the following coordinating colours: Petal Pink, Gray Granite and Basic Gray.  I love the combination of Basic Grey and Petal Pink, so that what I chose for this card.

I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock and then fussy cut it out.  Then I adhered it to Petal Pink cardstock and fussy cut around that - just leaving a little peek of colour.  I really like the effect.

Instructions

  1. Cut Petal Pink cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score in half to form card base.
  2. Cut 4" x 5 1/2" and adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal.
  3. Cut Petal Pink cardstock 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" and adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal.
  4. Cut Designer Series Paper 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal.
  5. Cut Petal Pink cardstock 3 1/2" x 3/4" and cut and emboss using the scallop die. Adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal approximately 2" from bottom
  6. Cut Shimmer ribbon 3 1/2" and adhere just above scallop piece using Stampin' Seal or Glue Dots.
  7. Cut 4 pieces for Peony from Petal Pink cardstock.
  8. Cut 3 large leaf pieces and 3 small leaf pieces from Mint Macaron cardstock.
  9. Cut 1 centre from Basic Grey cardstock.
  10. Put peony together using instructions in my Video.  Sponge the top of the petals using a Sponge Dauber and Basic Gray ink.
  11. Use Glue Dots to adhere pieces together.  Pop up pieces using Mini Dimensionals.
  12. Adhere the leaf pieces together using Glue Dots and then adhere to be back of the Peony using Glue Dots.
  13. Adhere to the left side of the card base using Stampin' Seal.
  14. Stamp sentiment using Basic Gray ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.
  15. Fussy cut out using your Paper Snips.
  16. Adhere to a scrap of Petal Pink cardstock and fussy cut around piece with your paper Snips.
  17. Adhere to the card base using Stampin' Seal.

Peony Garden

Tuesday, 23 June 2020

Today I'm sharing my second card made using the Peony Garden Bundle.  When I opened the dies for this suite of products I gasped - there are so many and I was completely overwhelmed!  Thankfully I calmed myself down and took a good look at the stamp set and dies and figured out which dies coordinate with the stamp set.  That left a set of dies for making the 3D peony and leaves.

I created this card along with a video to help you understand how easy it actually is to make beautiful 3D peonies!  I used Magenta Madness for my peony on this card - it matches perfectly with the bouquet of peonies my neighbour brought over from her garden.  I have one peony plant that I put in this year so I hope to have beautiful peonies in my house next year!

You can check out my video on my YouTube Channel "Creating with Stamping With Melva".

I'd love for you to check out my videos and subscribe to my channel.

Instructions

  1. Cut Thick Whisper White cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" and fold in half to form card base.
  2. Cut out peony pieces using the 4 flower dies from Magenta Madness cardstock
  3. Cut out 2 flower centres from Bumblebee cardstock
  4. Cut out 3 large leaf pieces from Just Jade cardstock
  5. Cut out 3 small leaf pieces from Mint Macaron cardstock
  6. Assemble the peony starting with the smallest piece.  Insert it into the slot in the next size, align the bottom and adhere with a Glue Dot (TIP, the Take Your Pick tool works great to pick up the glue dots and add them to the layers).  Repeat until you've assembled all 4 pieces and have your flower.  The trick to this is to make sure the bottom pieces of your peony all align - it's easy to do.  Check out my video for more instructions
  7. Insert some Mini Dimensionals between the petals to give the flower dimension.
  8. Insert the centres and adhere using Mini Glue Dots
  9. Add the outside pieces of leaves to the larger pieces using Glue Dots - you can align the edges to get them into the right place.  Adhere to the back of the peony using a Glue Dot.
  10. Cut out Magenta Madness cardstock 3" x 3"
  11. Cut out Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" and adhere to the Magenta Madness cardstock using Stampin' Seal.
  12. Adhere to the card base using Dimensionals.
  13. Adhere the peony to this piece using Dimensionals.
  14. Wrap Magenta Madness ribbon around card base and tie a bow on the left hand side about 1 1/4" from the bottom.  You can secure this in place by adding a Glue Dot to the back.
  15. Stamp the sentiment using Magenta Madness ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.
  16. Punch out using the Timeless Label punch.
  17. Adhere to the card base using Dimensionals.

Peony Garden

Sunday, 21 June 2020

Have you seen the Peony Garden Suite in the Annual Catalogue?  It is so pretty!  Peonies are one of my favourite flowers - my neighbour gave us some the other day from her garden and they filled the house with the most amazing lovely smell.  I've now gone out and bought a peony for my garden.  I'm not much of a gardener so I sure hope it survives!

In any event, the Peony Garden Suite is amazing.  I used the Prized Peony stamp set for today's card and stamped in Petal Pink, Gray Granite and Mint Macaron.  Such a pretty card.

  4. Cut Whisper White cardstock 2" x 5 1/4".
  5. Stamp peony images randomly using Petal Pink ink.
  6. Stamp leaves using Mint Macaron ink.
  7. Stamp squares using Gray Granite ink (stamped off).
  8. Adhere to Gray Granite cardstock using Stampin' Seal.
  9. Adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal
  10. Stamp sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Gray Granite ink. Cut out using small circle die from Tasteful Touches dies.
  11. Cut out circle from Petal Pink cardstock using circle die from World Map dies
  12. Adhere sentiment to Petal Pink circle using Dimensionals.
  13. Adhere to cardstock using Dimensionals.

Friday, 19 June 2020

Today I'm sharing another card I created using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle.  I am so loving this set - I think it will be my "go to" bundle from the Annual Catalogue.  Today's card has very little stamping on it - just the sentiment.

I paired the Bundle up with the Forever Greenery Embossing folder to add some detail to the background.  Love how this turned out.

Instructions

  1. Cut Early Espresso cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and fold in half to form card base.
  2. Cut Crumb Cake cardstock 4" x 5 1/4" and emboss using the Greenery Embossing Folder.  Adhere to card base using Stampin' Seal
  3. Cut out large sunflower from Crushed Curry cardstock
  4. Cut out detailed flower from Early Espresso cardstock.  Adhere to the large sunflower using Stampin' Seal - I applied the adhesive to the middle part.  Adhere centre of sunflower using a Dimensional.
  5. Cut out 2 detailed leaves from Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to the back of the Sunflower using Glue Dots
  6. Cut out sprigs from Cardstock Vellum and adhere to the back of the Sunflower using Glue Dots.
  7. Adhere to card base using Dimensionals
  8. Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 1" x 4" and stamp sentiment using Early Espresso ink.
  9. Cut ends using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.
  10. Adhere to card base using Dimensionals.
  11. Apply an In Colour Enamel Dots to each end of the label.
