Never Send a Naked Envelope!

Tuesday, 26 March 2019

Today I'm sharing one of the cards that we'll be making in my "Never Send a Naked Envelope!" class on Saturday. I was inspired by Shelley Gardner at OnStage in Orlando when she said this!  You can fancy up your envelopes by stamping on them, adding an insert or by making a coordinating envelope using Designer Series Paper with the Envelope Punch Board.

Check out this beautiful card!

My card features the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper that is only available during Sale-a-Bration until March 31st.  That's coming soon, so if you haven't got your package yet, make sure you order soon!

The Designer Series Paper is the star of this card.  I used the Label Me Pretty stamp set and coordinating Pretty Label Punch along with the Birthday Cheers stamp set for the sentiment.  It's hard to see in the picture, but there is vellum and Gold Metallic Thread behind the sentiment to add some bling.

Instructions

  1. Fold Calypso Coral cardstock (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") in half to form card base.
  2. Adhere Designer Series Paper (3 3/4" x 5") to So Saffron cardstock (4" x 5 1/4")
  3. Stamp label outline using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.
  4. Stamp sentiment in the middle of label outline
  5. Punch out using the Pretty Label punch.
  6. Adhere two rhinestones on either end of the label
  7. Wrap the Gold Metallic Thread around palm of hand about 7 times and pinch in the middle.  Adhere to Designer Series Paper using Snail
  8. Punch out circle from Vellum cardstock using Starburst Punch and adhere over Metallic Thread using Snail.
  9. Adhere label using Dimensionals
  10. Adhere to the So Saffron cardstock (4" x 5 1/4")
  11. Adhere to card base
  12. Stamp sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock (4" x 5 1/4")
  13. Adhere to the inside of the card.
  14. To make the envelope, cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 8" x 8" (follow the instructions on the punch board for the correct size of the card you are making).
    1. Line up the edge of the Designer Series Paper on the punch board as directed for the size of the card.  I lined up at 3 1/2".  Then punch and score.
    2. Turn your paper 90 degrees and line up the score line with the marked score line on the punch board.  Punch and score.  Repeat so that all sides of the Designer Series Paper are punched and scored.
    3. Fold on the score lines.
    4. Adhere the right and left flap to the bottom flap
    5. Round the top flap using the corner rounder on the Punch Board.

Lovely Lattice

Tuesday, 19 March 2019

I think I've found one of my favourite colour combinations - Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green!  Who would have thought!

Today's card features the Lovely Lattice stamp set.  This set is available as a Sale-a-Bration reward - free when you spend $60 CDN.  It's perfect for watercoloring.  I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then water coloured using an Aqua Painter with Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green.  It's hard to see in the card, but once the ink dried, I added some shimmer using Wink of Stella.

Instructions

  1. Fold card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") in half to form card base.
  2. Stamp image on water colour paper (3 3/4" x 5") using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
  3. Once dry, colour flowers using Aqua Painter and Gorgeous Grape ink.  Start with small amounts of water and dip onto ink pad.  As an alternative, you can drop a few drops of reinker into the lid of the ink pad and pick up with the Aqua Painter.
  4. Colour the leaves with Granny Apple Green.
  5. Stamp the sentiment
  6. Colour the flowers using Wink of Stella
  7. Adhere water colour paper to Granny Apple Green cardstock (4" x 5 1/4").
  8. Adhere to the card base.
