Can you case it Friday - Beautiful Bouquet

Sunday, 30 July 2017

Apologies for the late posting.  I had the best of intentions on Friday to post this but I was travelling from Charleston, South Carolina to Ladysmith and everything seemed to go wrong.  Charleston is a very pretty place to visit although I would suggest visiting in the fall when it's a little cooler and less humid!  I was only there for 3 days so didn't see a lot, but what I saw was lovely!  My travel plans on Friday went side ways when my flight from Charleston to Newark was delayed - no idea why, the plane was at the gate, but not leaving at the scheduled time :(  That meant I wouldn't make my connection to Vancouver.  I was put on a flight to Seattle and then Vancouver, but that meant I missed my connection to Ladysmith.  Oh well, I was happier with an overnight stay in Vancouver than elsewhere.  Finally home on Saturday morning :)

I'm spending my day in my craft room - just feels good to relax!

Here's my third instalment in my Can you CASE it Friday series.  This time I CASE'd the card from page 93 of the Annual Catalogue using the Beautiful Bouquet bundle (Item 145297).  I didn't change much from the original - just the embossing folder and doily.  I really like how fresh this card looks!

First, here's the card I CASE'd.

And now my card.  Pretty close.

Can you case it Friday - Label Me Pretty

Thursday, 20 July 2017

This is the second in my series of CASE'ing the Stampin' Up! catalogue.  Today I'm featuring the Label Me Pretty stamp set and Pretty Label punch.  I found this card on page 27 of the Annual Catalogue.

It's really simple and very pretty.  On first glance I thought I had everything I needed to CASE this card but as I pulled my supplies I realized I was missing many of the products that were used - Burlap stamp set, embossing folder, and wooden embellishments.  Oh well, I decided to change it up and create a version of the card using the same stamp set and punch and the same layout.  Here's the card I created:

You can see it has the same general layout, but I used Early Espresso and Crumb Cake card stock.  For the background I stamped using Crumb Cake ink with the Postscript stamp set.  It's hard to see on the card, but I embossed the largest banner with the Petal Burst embossing folder.

I stamped the image in Early Espresso and coloured it using the Watercolour Pencils and blended with a Blender Pen.  My embellishment is the new gold mini sequin trim.

This card may be more "inspired by" the original card but it doesn't really matter, I'm pretty happy with it.

Do you love coffee? Even if you don't Coffee Cafe is adorable!

Tuesday, 18 July 2017

Is coffee one of the first things on your mind when you wake up?  It is for me, so when I saw Coffee Cafe in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, I knew I had to have it.  Check out this card that I made.

The card uses a number of new products from the Annual Catalogue.

This card came together a bit organically.  I realize as I look at the picture it has lots of layers, but that's because I kept adding to it.  It didn't seem to pop enough so I added a layer of Copper Foil to the base and also across the card.  I really like the finished product.

The Embossing Paste made me "squeal" when I saw it.  I love mixed media and textures and have always hoped there would be a way to combine it on my cards.  It was so easy to add some texture with the paste.  You do have to let it dry, but mine dried quite quickly so by the time I was finished with the card I could assemble.  One tip I found is that you should make your embossed piece larger than you want it and then cut it down to make the edges a little cleaner.

Did you notice the Copper Trim?  It comes as 1/4" but you can pull the edges apart and spread it to 1" or more.  I love this trim and know it's going to become one of my staples.  You can tie a lovely bow with it or use it to add some interest to a card like I did on this one.

Can you CASE it Friday - Oh So Eclectic

Friday, 14 July 2017

I've moved to a new house and a new town recently and my husband and I are loving it, but I have to say I've lost my mojo when it comes to stamping!  It's not that I don't have the supplies :) but when I come up to my craft studio, I don't seem to be able to figure out where to start.  Has that ever happened to you?  It's certainly not the first time for me.

I've decided to start CASE'ing the Stampin' Up! Annual catalogue and once a week I'll post a card that I've CASE'd from the catalogue.

CASE is when you copy a card almost exactly or you might change up the colors or even the stamp set.  If you make too many changes from the original, then you didn't CASE the card but were inspired by the card.

There are so many cards in the cattie to choose from that are created by the amazing concept artists at Stampin' Up!  Are you ready for my first CASE'd card?  Here we go...

I received the Oh So Eclectic stamp set (Item 143940) at the Stampin' Up! Onstage event in April.  I loved the stamp set when I saw it and was thrilled to get it as part of a prize patrol!  First, here's the card I CASE'd from page 132.

The card uses the Oh So Eclectic Bundle (Item 145355 (wood) and Item 145356 (clear) that includes the Oh So Eclectic stamp set and the Eclectic Thinlit Dies as well as the coordinating Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (Item 144185).

Now, here's my card.

I made some changes to the card - that's where your own creativity can come through. Here is my supply list for my card:
  • Oh So Eclectic stamp set  (Item 143940)
  • Eclectic Thinlit Dies (Item 143774)
  • Whisper White card stock (cut 5 1/2" x 11" and folder in half to make card base)
  • Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (Item 144185) - Emerald Envy ombre piece (cut 4" x 5 1/4")
  • Scraps of Whisper White to stamp images on
  • Scraps of Copper Foil
  • Copper Metallic Thread
  • Emerald Envy stampin pad
  • Berry Burst stampin pad
  • Pretty Label Punch (Item 143715)
The Eclectic Thinlit Dies allow you to cut out lots of different shapes and also to emboss.  It's hard to see on my card, but I used the leaves embossing thinlet to emboss some leaves behind my main flower.

Check out this video from Stampin' Up! for more information.

Are you looking for quick and easy Birthday Cards?

Tuesday, 11 July 2017

I wanted to share with you some cards that are quick and easy to make when you need a Birthday card.  These cards use the Stylized Birthday stamp.

First, two cards that use the Stylized Birthday stamp set (Item 141828).  This is a great stamp and you can use it to with a little bit of Designer Series Paper from the Color Theory Paper Stack (Item 144193) - paint chips are definitely on trend at the moment, and a few Glitter Enamel Dots (Item 144200), you have a great card.  Just change the colours and it's perfect for masculine or feminine birthdays.

I love Berry Burst from the new In Colours and this card that I made definitely shows it off.

The next card was made by my friend Ginny Duncan and she's made a fancy fold card using the same stamp, but has also added some swirls cut out using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit Dies (Item 141497).

Here's some samples from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue (Page 80) using the stamp set.

Interested in placing an order? You can go to my Online Store or email me your order.  Remember if you are shopping through the Online Store and your order is less than $200, use my Host Code CYH6FWC6 and I'll send you a set of 4 cards as a Thank You gift including the instructions so you can make at home.

Summer has finally arrived

Tuesday, 4 July 2017

It was a lovely and warm weekend on Vancouver Island and we celebrated Canada's 150th Birthday!  It was amazing to see the "sea of red and white" at the celebrations at Transfer Beach on Saturday!  I received this amazing card from my friend Diane Evans in my monthly swap.  I love how she created it using the Colorful Seasons stamp set (Item 143726) and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlits (Item 143751) that are available in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.
Color Theory

I wanted to share a card that I made using the Crafting Forever stampset (Item 143958) and two of the new In Colours - Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide.  I also used the new Ruffled embossing folder (Item 143699) to add some texture to the background.
I love this combination together.  Feels very summery to me.

Here's list of the supplies I used:

Have you received your catalogue yet? If you are on of my active customers, then you have received a complimentary catalogue in the mail.  If you didn't receive it, please email me and I'll make sure you get one. If haven't purchased from me in the past 12 months you can email me and I'll get one to you ($15 by mail).  I'll give you a credit on your first order of $50 for the value.
