A little off topic
I'm going to hi jack my blog post today and talk about a very important topic that became critically important to me and my husband in the past week.
We headed out on our sail boat for a 3 week vacation - we were both looking forward to getting away for such a long time on the boat. It was day 3 and we had crossed over Georgia Strait the day before. My husband woke up and when he looked at me he had clear signs of having had a stroke. I immediately remembered a commercial on TV that says "Honey, you're having a stroke. Raise your arms, talk to me, I'm calling 9-1-1" and that's what I did.
Thank goodness for that commercial and thank goodness that the small island that we were on had a Fire and Rescue team and also an ambulance! My husband was taken by ambulance to Nanaimo Hospital - a 20 minute drive across the island and then a 20 minute ferry crossing.
I'm happy to report that my husband is fine - he had a couple of Transient Ischemic Attacks or mini strokes. He was in Nanaimo Hospital for 48 hours as they tried to find the source of the clots. He's fully recovered. We're now home and our boat is coming home today! He still has lots of tests to go through, but it sure feels good to be home.
If I can leave you with one message, it's this.
Thanks for listening!
Happy stamping!
