The weather outside is frightful, but my craft room was so delightful....

Monday, 31 August 2015

We had a terrible storm on the south coast of British Columbia this past weekend with winds up to 90 km/hour.  At one point during the weekend we have 500,000 people without power and some of those are still in the dark over 48 hours later!  My thoughts go out to all of those people who are trying to clean up from the storm! We were lucky and didn't have a power outage but there were trees down around us.

I took the opportunity on Saturday to play in my craft room.  I'm so excited that the Holiday Catalogue is available tomorrow for you to order from!  I'm not sure if it was the storm that inspired me or if it was just the fact that the products are so amazing!

I want to share with you one of my creations.  This card uses the Cozy Christmas stamp set and the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I wasn't so sure I liked this paper when I first saw it at Convention, but now it just gives me a very warm feeling - takes me back to my childhood and the memory of the wrapping paper I used to see under the tree.

For this paper, I used a card base of Whisper White (cut 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" and scored in half) and layered on Real Red Card stock (cut 4" x 5 1/4") and the DSP (cut 3 3/4" x 5").

The banner is a 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" strip of Real Red and a 2 1/4" x 5 1/4" strip of Whisper White.  I cut a tail in both ends.  On the Whisper White I stamped the Merry Little Christmas sentiment from Cozy Christmas in Real Red.  I adhered these two pieces together and stapled a 5" piece of the Real Red Pompom Trim to it.

From the DSP I fussy cut a Santa image.  I love this paper - the images are positioned in such a way that you can cut out individual images without worrying about cutting through others.  I used a Dimensional to adhere this to the banner.

Finally I used dimensional to adhere the banner to the card base.

I love how this turned out!  It was so easy and quick with only a little bit of fussy cutting :)

You can order the supplies to make this card (and many others) from the Holiday Catalogue as of tomorrow!  Let me know if you haven't received a catalogue and I'll be sure to get one to you.  The catalogue will be online tomorrow - check out this link (the catalogue isn't there now, but will be there tomorrow).

Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peeks

Saturday, 29 August 2015

You can place your order from the Holiday Catalogue as of Tuesday, September 1st.  Do you have your list of 'must haves'?  I'm afraid my list was the whole catalogue!

I wanted to share some cards that were made using products from the Holiday Catalogue to get you as excited as I am about everything in it!

I created this card using the Six Sayings stamp set which is a Hostess set from the catalogue and the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper.  The circles are cut on Whisper White and Silver Foil.

I received this card from Jenn Tinline.  She's used the Winter Wishes stamp set.  The cards has a lovely vintage feel!  This was a stamp set that I didn't order (what was I thinking!) but I may have to change my mind!

Sandi MacIver's card is amazing - I'm trying to figure out how she got such deep colours in the back ground.  She's added a layer that is cut out using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits on top with a sentiment from the Jingle All the Way stamp set.

Another great card using the Winter Wishes stamp set from Alison Solven.  She's using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits to cut out "Merry" and lay it over the image.  Yep, another reason to add this to my wishlist!
If you haven't received your Holiday Catalogue, you can email me and I'll be happy to get one to you.  You can order as of Tuesday, September 1st - don't miss out!  I can't wait to spend some time in my craft room this weekend playing with all of the wonderful Holiday products.

For every one of these stamp sets purchased, Stampin' Up! will donate $3 to Ronald McDonald House Charities.  What a great way to give to a very worthwhile cause.

I worked at BC's Children's Hospital early in my career as a pharmacist so had a chance to see first hand what a difference that the Ronald McDonald House makes in the lives of the families need to be away from home to receive care.

I've also been very privileged to participate in a RMHC Stamp Camp for the last 3 years organized by some SU! Demonstrators in the Lower Mainland.  This year's event is on October 17th from 10:30am to 2:30pm.  The theme is Christmas so you'll make 9 different cards throughout the day.  Great fun and you'll be a step ahead in getting ready for Christmas!  Cost for the day is $45 and besides the cards, includes a goodie back and a light lunch. If you haven't received the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue or the upcoming Holiday Catalogue, email me and I'll make sure you do.  If you want to place an order, click here!

Short Post Today

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

I'm enjoying some holiday time on our boat in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.  We in our last week - but have been having a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.  I even got a little stamping on a day that had a bit of rain.

Check out my finished cards from the July Paper Pumpkin kit.

This month's cards are so cute!

If you haven't checked out Paper Pumpkin yet, there is a great offer for new subscribers (or previous subscribers with a new email address) - 50% off your kit for the first 2 months.
Paper Pumpkin is a great "all inclusive" kit that comes to your door each month automatically.  It contains everything you need to make a set of cards or a project.  The cost is $24.95 per month (includes shipping).  If you take advantage of the offer before September 10th, you'll pay half price for the first two months.  You can choose to stop at any time after your first two kits or you can choose to take a break.  I'm not sure why you'd do either of these, but the options are there!

If you have questions, email me or click here to start your subscription.
