Everything Eleanor

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

When I received the Everything Eleanor stamp set (Item 124164) at Stampin' Up!s Leadership event I knew that some fabulous cards could be created with it - I was right (at least I think I was right).

Swap made for Every Stamp Set Swap"
I like how this card turned out.  I used Wisteria Wonder and Black and cut out the flower and label images after stamping.

Convention 2012 Swap
This card was actually inspired by a t-shirt that I bought.  The flowers and pattern on my t-shirt were navy with beige swirls and colour behind.  I added some spritz with crumb cake using a marker to the image.  I used the Fancy Fan embossing folder (Item 127751) to add some texture as the back ground and then layered the image and some Night of Navy card stock that I had cut using 2 different sizes of the Labels Collection Framelits (Item 125598)

Enjoying one the last trips of the season on the Sailboat

Saturday, 25 August 2012

This weekend my husband and I (and of course our dog) are spending one of the last weekends we'll be able to on our sailboat in Bedwell Bay (just off the village of Belcarra near Vancouver, BC).  I'm hoping summer will last longer, but I start travelling for work in early September so for us this is getting close to our last trip.

This was the first time we have taken our boat under the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver and then under the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge.  It was pretty amazing.

Lions Gate Bridge
It really is a pretty sight coming under this bridge and into Coal Harbour and Burrard Inlet.  The city of Vancouver is on your right with the North Shore mountains on your left.

Iron Workers Memorial Bridge and Railway Tressle

In order to get into Indian Arm you go under a second bridge as well as a railway tressle - of course you have to radio the man that operates the tressle.  The last thing you want is to go through in a sailboat when the tressle is down :(

Of course, I planned ahead and brought some stamping with me.  Work space could be bigger, but it works

More Swap Shares

Thursday, 23 August 2012

I promised to share more of the cards I created for the "Every Stamp Set Swap".As I mentioned in a previous post I signed up for 11 categories in the swap so had about 175 cards to make.  I was "forcing" myself to create a simple but pretty card.  Hard to do some times for me - I tend to want to add a lot of layers, embellishments and details.

Fabulous You (Item 126522)
I love how this card turned out.  The stamp set is amazing - I love the shoe and the sentiment.
Creative Elements (Item 122647)
Creative Elements is one of my favourite stamp sets and I love using the collage technique.
Life Shared (Item 126820)
If anyone grew up reading "Fun with Dick and Jane" books (yep showing my age), then this stamp set may bring back memories.  I decided to use some bold colours - Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point and then water colour the image.

Papaya Collage (Item 126612)

I really like this stamp set, but always struggle a little bit to figure out what to do with it.  The frame is really versatile and can be used for so much.  I definitely have to spend some more time playing with it, but I was happy with how this turned out.

I have more swaps to share plus new cards I've been making for family and friends birthdays coming up in September and October.  Stay tuned!

New Stampin' Up! Ads - Aren't they great!

Wednesday, 22 August 2012

Stampin' Up! is doing some advertising in some Canadian magazines.  Have you seen them?  I picked up Chatelaine the other day and found one.  This is one of the new ads, isn't it great.

The instructions to make these lovely flowers is available, just email me and I'll send you to them. You may have seen a previous posting of mine that included a small version of the flower on a Christmas card.  The flowers are really beautiful and very easy to make.

Stay tuned the other SU! ads.

It's been a fun weekend

Sunday, 19 August 2012

This weekend was all about stamping!  What could be more fun?  Well, for me, the only other thing that may beat out stamping is sailing, but that's next weekend :)  This weekend I spent yesterday at an Holiday Catalogue Stamp a Stack event that my upline put on and then helped a fellow demonstrator with a class last night.

I signed up for an "Every Stamp Set Swap" so I've been busy creating my cards.  The way the swap works is that you sign up to make full cards for a group of cards in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  Wanda Dodds does a great job in organizing this swap.

It is possible that if you were really energetic you could end up with a sample of every stamp set in the catalogue.  I didn't go that far, but I did sign up for 11 categories so I have been busy making about 175 cards.  I'm finally finished all of the cards today and they will go in the mail tomorrow.  Phew!

Greeting Card Kids (Item 120633)
I love these flowers - for this one I took 3 scallop circles and soaked them with a mixture of alcohol and shimmer paint to add some sparkle.  Once they were wet I scrunched them up and attached them together with a brad.  If you leave this scrunched it will dry that way and you have a beautiful flower.  So easy!

Fine Feather (Item 126517)
I love this new stamp set - Fine Feathers.  It was easy to make this look like a peacock feather.  I took the Old Olive and the Island Indigo markers and just ran them across the marker.  It's a little hard to see, but the colours look just like a peacock.

Forever With You (Item 126727)
I wasn't so sure of this stamp set, but I really like the way it turned out.  I added one of the stamps from Everything Eleanor as a background along with a few pearls and some paper piercing just to "pop" it up.

I'll share more of my swaps with you over the next few days and then will share the swaps I receive back in September when I get them in the mail.

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Stamping.

Convention 2012 Recap (Finally)

Thursday, 9 August 2012

Hi everyone,
Back from our sailing adventure and back to work!  Always takes a little while to get back into the swing of things.
I had promised to share some of the great things I got at Stampin' Up! Convention as well as some of my favourite swaps.

Here is all of the "free" things we got at Convention - we always get a great bag (it's in the back - Daffodil Delight Chevrons) as well as free stampsets and of course some give aways! You definitely have to pack an extra suitcase.  Being able to attend SU! Convention is definitely a perk of being a demonstrator.
Of course, convention is never complete without a trip (or two) through Memento Mall.  Memento Mall is a place to buy lots of SU! logo items - I tried to restrain myself, but that's never easy!
My upline, Alison Solven, organized a swap for the ladies in her Canada Inks Up! Team attending convention.  It was so much fun to get together and swap and also to see everyone's favourite swaps that they had received over the week.
This card was made by Elaine Paget - love the colours!  This stamp uses the Layered Labels Stamp (Item 127072) set cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits (Item 127003).
Isn't this card great!  My upline, Alison, made this for our swap using the You're Amazing Stamp Set (Item 126722).  We received this stamp set at convention and I can't wait to make some great cards with it.  There is a coordinating Ticket Duo Builder punch (Item 126883) that is definitely on my wishlist!
This gift card holder was made by Diane Evans - she's such a talented lady!  She has embossed the base with the Blooming with Kindness  stamp (Item 126422) using clear embossing powder with VersaMark,
I'm helping Alison with a Convention in Vancouver event for her downline and customers on Saturday so have been in my craft room creating some demonstrations to share on that day.  We're bringing convention to those who weren't able to attend - the day will be full of demonstrations, business talks based on the classes we attended as well as Make n' Takes!  I'll share some of the pictures of my demos and one of the Make n' Takes after Saturday.

If you're interested in any of the items used in these cards, email me or have a look in my online store.  I have spaces available in my upcoming classes as well.  If you are interested in hosting a party for you and your friends, contact me and we can plan together!

Happy stamping!

My husband and I are still sailing - enjoying the last few days before having to go back to work.  The weather has been amazing - finally summer!

I thought I would share with you the swaps that I made for Convention 2012.  I haven't managed to sort through all of the swaps that I received in exchange, but will post those in the next few days.

Swapping is such a fun part of convention!  I love seeing what everyone else does with stamp sets and embellishments!
